In 1929 the Stock Market crashed plummeting Americans into the most debilitating depression our country has ever seen. During these times many people and their families went through unimaginable hardships. It left thousands without jobs and families starving in the streets. Workers migrated across the country looking for work and a chance to better their lives. Although some may have focused more on the economic issues of the time the actual people affected by these circumstances were the true tragedy. Dorothea Lange made it her focus as a photographer to expose and bring to light the true plight of the American people. Dorothea would expose America’s hidden truths of extreme poverty by any means necessary. She made it her mission as a photographer to motivate others to help these people through her powerful images.
